With the name change to STS, a comprehensive amendment to the Statutes (Link to STS Statutes) was also decided at the regular general meeting of the SGACT on 06.09.2023 in Biel. These changes came into effect on 01.01.2024.

As of 01.01.2024, the new interdisciplinary sub-speciality programme “Specialised Traumatology” of the two professional societies, the Swiss Society of Surgery (SGC) and the Swiss Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Musculoskeletal System (swiss orthopaedics) came into effect. As part of these changes, special transitional provisions will apply to current sub-speciality programme candidates until 30.06.2026.

For surgeons with the sub-speciality ACT, this will automatically be converted into the sub-speciality “Specialised Traumatology” and entered in the medical register. For a fee of CHF 100.00, you can apply for your new diploma via the application tool of the sub-speciality programme “Specialised Traumatology”.

Additionally, under the transitional provisions there is the opportunity for ACT holders specialising in the visceral field to obtain more easily the sub-speciality “Visceral Surgery”. Details can be found here.

Attention!!!

Surgeons, who still wish to achieve the sub-speciality under the old regulations,  please note that for this a minimum 3-day course on healthcare management must be completed. The course “Seminar Notfallmanagement (Emergency Management)“, organised under the patronage of SGACT, will be held only once more from 9th–11th September 2024, and then discontinued!
